Generous Bequest made to the
Brunswick Area Student Aid Fund
Brunswick Area Student Aid fund received a generous bequest from the late Edward S. Lanciani. Mr. Lanciani grew up in Everett, Massachusetts. He spent time at Boston University and then enlisted in the Marine Corps after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. When he returned from the Marines in 1945, he began his career working in advertising for a weekly community newspaper, the Cambridge Chronicle. He progressed through the ranks, working at a variety of New England newspapers, and ended his career as Vice President of advertising at the Providence Journal where he retired in 1984.
After his retirement , Mr. Lanciani moved to Harpswell and then later to Topsham. Mr. Lanciani passed away on July 15, 2009. Mr. Lanciani enjoyed the years he spent in the Harpswell, Topsham and Brunswick area and wanted to give something back to the community he loved. Helping to educate local students fell into that category. In his will, Mr. Lancianci gave an extremely generous, six figure, bequest to Brunswick Area Student Aid Fund.
The Brunswick Area Student Aid Fund greatly appreciates Mr. Lanciani’s generosity . This gift allows BASAF to continue its support of students in their college endeavors. BASAF thanks Mr. Lanciani and his family.
